Welcome to Jubilife!
I decide to explore whatever was left of the route. Was there an item in the grass? You gotta wonder where those things keep coming from, but beggars can’t be choosers. So I entered the last patch of grass.

Solar Rai leveled up once more! Since he could now battle without further help from Aoi Umi, I decided to go hunt for that Bidoof I was going to trade away. Better get it over with now. But first I grabbed that item in the grass.

Strangely enough, I hadn’t had any Bidoof encounters today. Even the next one was just another Starly. While I was wondering if it was a very bad thing that Rai hadn’t gained any defense points again, I figured it was alright as long as he didn’t encounter any Ground type attacks.

Finally, I managed to find a Bidoof. I got a Bidoof after all.

Now that I had gotten the Dex entry I decided to rush to the Center immediately, to trade with my friend. I didn’t want to have this one around me any longer than I had to. It seemed oblivious towards my hatred though. Or maybe it was plain dumb. Almost cute.

I was happy about my new team mate. A Mudkip, huh? Its name was Aqua Rage. And, it was a shiny! A pink Mudkip. I haven’t seen many Mudkips, seeing as they’re not home to Johto, and asumably not Sinnoh either (or else I’d have gotten a Dex entry for it…)
I asked my friend “Why Mudkip?” She told me that a friend of hers had been breeding them, and apparently the shiny wasn’t very well accepted by the other Mudkips, due to its color.
Apparently she thought that, if it were to lead a good life, it should travel the world alongside a trainer, so she recommened me to her breeding friend, and this is how all of it came to be.
It possesses a variety of attacks thanks to the breeding, and the use of TMs. Normally I’d only have one Water type in my team, and Rage seemed like the better pick. But I couldn’t simply abandon Aoi like that! My friend told me that both Aoi and Rage would get a second type later, when they evolved, and they would have entirely different weaknesses, so that my team would still be balanced. Hurray!
I’ll have you know, I’m quite the strategist. Even before I considered becoming a trainer, I knew a lot of the types and their effects on each other. As such, I’m trying to build a very balanced team.
However, in all my joy my friend gave me a warning: Pokémon that I obtained via trade will sometimes disobey me. She said that the higher the level, the more likely they are to do so. In order to have them obey me, I’d have to battle the gym leaders and earn badges.
I guess a trainer with a lot of badges earns the respect even of higher leveled Pokémon. How else would this work, unless the badges have some sort of mind control? @_@
Anyhow, I asked her if there were any other Pokémon she’d consider giving in my care. She said she’d think about it, but that it also was important that I’d assemble my own team. “Fine”, I said, “but let’s say I want Pokémon X in my team, and I can’t get it here. Then will you help me out?” And she agreed, under the condition that at least half my Pokémon were caught by me. Which means I’ll catch one more for the team, and she’ll trade me two more.
At least I won’t have to catch anymore Bidoof for her. >.>
Well, I’ll give my dear Pokémon some time to get to know each other, and then we’ll look for Bezyda. When I entered Jubilife, Lucius had told me that I could find the guy in a Pokémon Trainers School. I never knew there were schools about this o.o’
And I never knew that Bezyda could actually be patient enough to take lessons there.
I forgot to mention: Aqua Rage came holding an Amulet Coin.
That will help me earn money faster!

Home Sweet Home and back to Adventure!
~ Sandgem Town ~
I had changed my mind and decided to tell my mum the big news. After all, the day was not over yet, and I was too excited to rest properly just yet!
So I left the PokémonCenter and was on my way. But first I went to see the big house in town. Apparently this was Lucius’ hometown, and his whole family was proud of what he was doing. I could only hope my family would say the same thing. <3
~ Route 201 ~
In order to get home, I had to go through Route 201 once more. As fate would have it, I met another Bidoof, and soon after, a Starly.

Home Sweet Home. Indeed. I quickly headed towards my home, where my mother was waiting in the living room. Within a short time I had reported to her all new events that had happened.
She remained silent for a bit, and it made me aware how selfish my request was. When Professor Rowan asked me to help him out, I didn’t even consider anyone’s opinion but my own. But certainly my mother was saddened by the idea that I would leave into the world, and she would remain home without me. (I did not know then that my mother herself had quite a career in Pokémon Contests.)
However, she acknowledged my desire to travel the world with my new friend, Aoi Umi. Perhaps she had foreseen that this day would come, for she gave to me Journal in which I would write everything that happened to me on a daily basis.

When I had finally said my goodbyes for the moment, I was ready to head out. Just then, Seriva bumped into me. Just like I, Bedyza was going to see the world, however, he had failed to notify his mother. She expressed her worries on how rash he was, and handed me a parcel to deliver to him. Apparently he was headed for Jubilife, or so her motherly instincts told her. I promised to deliver the parcel safely, and headed back towards Sandgem.

After saying goodbye once more, this time to two mothers, I found myself on the way back to Sandgem.

Just when I thought I’d make it through the route eventless, another Bidoof appeared. Those things must like me as much as I hate them. >.<

One Good thing that came from all this, however, is that Aoi Umi leveled up once more. Now he’s level 7!

I quickly passed through the town, but rather than heading north, I went to explore the south, as I had noticed the area getting sandy. And indeed, there was the ocean, and a beach as well, of course. It was there that I found an item for the first time.

Lucius was there, waiting for me. After he had made sure that I indeed told my mother about my future expedition, he showed me how I could catch Pokémon. I had a general idea of how it worked, but seeing it right in front my eyes was certainly helpful. Also, because he showed me how it worked, I found out that he has a Chimchar. How cute!
After the demonstration was over, he gave me 5 Pokéballs. I figured it’d be best not to tell him that I had already purchased some of my own.

After Lucius left me, I decided to continue on as well. I was determined to catch a Pokémon before having a Trainer Battle. And, as luck would have it, I encountered a Shinx, one which possessed the ability Intimidate, something that comes in handy, especially in double battles.

I happily named it “Solar Rai”, which is a play on ‘solar ray’ and ‘rai’, the Japanese word for thunder. In case you were wondering what “Aoi Umi” means… it is, literally, ‘blue ocean’ in Japanese. Yeah, I’m so very creative…
Once returned, my eyes met with those of a trainer.

Teenager Gunter was the first Pokémon Trainer I ever had to battle. But, it was easy nonetheless. Isent out Solar Rai and switched him out with Aoi Umi, so that he’d gain experience without fainting.

It worked well, and I won the battle. I wanted to be on the safe side, seeing as there were some more trainers ahead, so I walked back towards the PokémonCenter. This was where I spent the night.
