Welcome to Jubilife!

I decide to explore whatever was left of the route. Was there an item in the grass? You gotta wonder where those things keep coming from, but beggars can’t be choosers. So I entered the last patch of grass.

VS.

Solar Rai leveled up once more! Since he could now battle without further help from Aoi Umi, I decided to go hunt for that Bidoof I was going to trade away. Better get it over with now. But first I grabbed that item in the grass.

Obtained.

Strangely enough, I hadn’t had any Bidoof encounters today. Even the next one was just another Starly. While I was wondering if it was a very bad thing that Rai hadn’t gained any defense points again, I figured it was alright as long as he didn’t encounter any Ground type attacks.

Finally, I managed to find a Bidoof. I got a Bidoof after all.

Bidoof joins the team!

Now that I had gotten the Dex entry I decided to rush to the Center immediately, to trade with my friend. I didn’t want to have this one around me any longer than I had to. It seemed oblivious towards my hatred though. Or  maybe it was plain dumb. Almost cute.

traded for.

I was happy about my new team mate. A Mudkip, huh? Its name was Aqua Rage. And, it was a shiny! A pink Mudkip. I haven’t seen many Mudkips, seeing as they’re not home to Johto, and asumably not Sinnoh either (or else I’d have gotten a Dex entry for it…)

I asked my friend “Why Mudkip?” She told me that a friend of hers had been breeding them, and apparently the shiny wasn’t very well accepted by the other Mudkips, due to its color. Apparently she thought that, if it were to lead a good life, it should travel the world alongside a trainer, so she recommened me to her breeding friend, and this is how all of it came to be.

It possesses a variety of attacks thanks to the breeding, and the use of TMs. Normally I’d only have one Water type in my team, and Rage seemed like the better pick. But I couldn’t simply abandon Aoi like that! My friend told me that both Aoi and Rage would get a second type later, when they evolved, and they would have entirely different weaknesses, so that my team would still be balanced. Hurray!

I’ll have you know, I’m quite the strategist. Even before I considered becoming a trainer, I knew a lot of the types and their effects on each other. As such, I’m trying to build a very balanced team.

However, in all my joy my friend gave me a warning: Pokémon that I obtained via trade will sometimes disobey me. She said that the higher the level, the more likely they are to do so. In order to have them obey me, I’d have to battle the gym leaders and earn badges.

I guess a trainer with a lot of badges earns the respect even of higher leveled Pokémon. How else would this work, unless the badges have some sort of mind control? @_@

Anyhow, I asked her if there were any other Pokémon she’d consider giving in my care. She said she’d think about it, but that it also was important that I’d assemble my own team. “Fine”, I said, “but let’s say I want Pokémon X in my team, and I can’t get it here. Then will you help me out?” And she agreed, under the condition that at least half my Pokémon were caught by me. Which means I’ll catch one more for the team, and she’ll trade me two more.

At least I won’t have to catch anymore Bidoof for her. >.>

Well, I’ll give my dear Pokémon some time to get to know each other, and then we’ll look for Bezyda. When I entered Jubilife, Lucius had told me that I could find the guy in a Pokémon Trainers School. I never knew there were schools about this o.o’

And I never knew that Bezyda could actually be patient enough to take lessons there.

I forgot to mention: Aqua Rage came holding an Amulet Coin. That will help me earn money faster!

Conquering Route 202

———————————–

Route 202

———————————–

I had spent the night in the PokémonCenter, and now was all ready for more adventures. My friend back in Johto had promised to give me a Pokémon once I was a Trainer, so I knew I’d had to catch a Pokémon in order to trade with her. However, I decided that that Pokémon would be Bidoof. Because a) there are none of them into Johto (lucky!), and b) I had to get it for my PokéDex, but I sure as heck wasn’t going to keep it!

Anyways, I went into the grass, ready for anything.

VS.

Of course I won. Solar Rai even leveled up to 4! All his stats, except DEF, rose. But I’m sure there’s no need to worry.

Since he had won the battle on his own, his health was low, so I decided to go and heal im in the PokémonCenter. But, as expected, another battle.

VS. /

Since I was trying to help the professor out, I decided to catch at least one Starly. So, I switched out Solar Rai for Aoi Umi and weakened the bird until it was low on health. As Lucius told me, the best way to catch them.

Kijame uses1 Pokéball.

Starly joins the team!

I decided not to name it, seeing as I didn’t plan on having it with me for long. With my new Dex entry ready, I headed towards the town again. Of course, yet another battle would follow.

VS. /

Needless to say, I won. I walked as planned, and deposited Starly in PC Box 1.

left the team.

Back en route, I met with another Trainer, this time a Lass, named Nadine.

VS.

VS.

So it was her female Bidoof vs. my Solar Rai. Rai did well, but not only did the Bidoof land a critical hit, one of Rai’s Tackle attacks missed as well. Despite my worries however, he was victorious, and leveled up to Lvl. 5! In addition, he learned the Leer attack.

VS./

Her next one was also a Bidoof. That girl and I wouldn’t become best friends any time soon… >.>

I decided to use Rai’s new attack, before switching to Aoi Umi, so that Rai wouldn’t faint. Aoi made short notice of the Bidoof, so the Leer proved just as useful as Intimidate did at the beginning of the battle.

Obtained $48.

New total: $228

Well, now I’ve beaten two Trainers. I was quite happy, and it seemed like nothing would stop me, at least for now. I pondered whether not to return to the town, perhaps doing some shopping. But in the end I decided to keep on heading north. After all, Seriva wanted me to deliver a parcel to her son, and I didn’t want to keep her waiting.

The way through the next patch of grass was eventless, however, as I made my way out, I was spotted by yet another Teenage trainer. I didn’t catch his name, but the battle began nonetheless.

VS.

VS. /

My Rai was still hurt from the previous battles, so I withdrew it after one Leer. Then Aoi pummeled it into the ground with a few Pound attacks. Both Rai and Aoi leveled up! Now Aoi was Lvl. 8 and Rai was Lvl. 6. In addition, Aoi learned his first water attack, bubble!

Obtained $80.

New total: $308

I could see a sign behind a small patch of grass, so I decided to sprint for it. However, we had yet another encounter.

VS. /

With Rai still wounded, I immediately switched to Aoi. Another battle won. I could read on the sign that Jubilife was just ahead.  With that information, I decided to heal my team before finishing the exploration of Route 202. And so I hurried into the city’s PokémonCenter.
